Angel is a third-generation coffee producer who began working with coffee processing at the San Vicente mill from a young age. Over the past 15 years, he has developed strong relationships with specialty coffee farmers, building a deep understanding of quality-focused production.
In 2007, Angel purchased his first piece of land and established a coffee farm, planting it entirely with Red Catuai and naming it "La Colmena." By 2009, he was producing coffee and preparing his first micro-lot for the specialty market.
Since 2011, Angel has been a regular contender in the Cup of Excellence competition, consistently earning top placements and recognition for the excellence of his coffees.
In 2018, he expanded his work by acquiring a second farm in El Dorado, Santa Bárbara, where he introduced several new coffee varieties. His first harvest from this land came in 2021, and after three years of careful cultivation and processing, it is now producing coffees known for their remarkable quality and consistency.
Angel is quiet yet charming—kind, humble, and unassuming about his achievements, despite being recognized as one of the top coffee producers in Honduras. We had the pleasure of meeting him in 2025 at the Producer Roaster Forum in Honduras, where we were not only impressed by the quality of his coffees but also inspired by his dedication to the craft.
One of the standout coffees from Angel's farm is Pacamara—a hybrid variety developed in El Salvador in the 1950s by crossing Pacas (a natural mutation of Bourbon) with Maragogipe (a mutation of Typica). Pacamara is celebrated for its sweetness, full body, vibrant acidity, and layered complexity, offering notes of fruit, florals, and spice. In this particular lot from Angel, we're especially enjoying its yellow fruit and floral characteristics, which speak to the care and skill behind every step of its production.
